It's Lenten Specials 2015 at Eat Bulaga

Lenten Specials became an annual presentation by the EB Dabarkads since 1981, which was about 34 years ago.  During this season, Kapuso fans are treated to 6 different productions that showcase the EB Dabarkads' talent in drama.  Kapuso fans will see their idols portray roles which are completely opposite their natural funny characters.

So in the EB Dabarkads' tradition, we will see them again on Holy Monday, Holy Tuesday and Holy Wednesday.   I got the chance to see their Holy Tuesday feature entitled:  "Pinagpalang Ama."  The story is about a father, portrayed by Joey de Leon, who has three sons who turned out to be all gays.  Now, unlike other parents, he has learned to accept his children wholeheartedly.  One of the children, played by Ryan Agoncillo, came out of the closet rather late.  The family's problems started soon after he revealed his sexuality.

"Pinagpalang Ama" is directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal.  Wally Bayola plays the second son.  He assists older brother Jose in the household and in supporting the family.   Guests include Asia's Queen of Songs no less, Pilita Corales, who plays the role of their glamorous grandmother.

Another production which i was lucky to see the preview of in Cerchio's last March 23, 2015, is the "Lukso ng Dugo."  It is directed by Direk Gina Alajar, a veteran actress turned director and who is herself, a child actress too.   It stars dabarkads, Pia Guanio, Aiza Seguerra, Raizza Mae Dizon, Julia Clarete.

The story revolves around the struggle of a family who are caught in their own troubles:  Mildred, played by Pia Guanio, married a gambler, bum, and alcoholic too.   Alex, played by Aiza Seguerra, takes care of her younger sister, Maikka.  They both live off their earnings from selling and other pranks on the street.   While Ditas, played by Julia Clarete, is a self-sufficient, old maid, living alone, who later realizes that she needs someone to stay with her  when she met an accident.  After their different miseries, they all realize that there is no one they can depend on, but each other, and their family alone.

Let's not miss these special presentations as these are real stories of real people that the dabarkads have encountered during their one-for-all, all-for-one segment in Eat Bulaga.  Let's not forget that Lent Season is a time for repenting and penance as well as giving forgiveness to those who have sinned against us.
