Who would have thought that our homegrown fare found commonly in turo-turos or in carinderia will be glamorized and packaged attractively and sold in affordable rates in the fast-growing food chain, 'Boy Kanin?' Five years ago, Mr. Ronald Callao, President and CEO of MB Flavored Rice Corporation, conceptualized the creation of Boy Kanin when he noticed that most food chains sell Chinese-influenced food. He thought of using the ubiquitous rice in his menu because 99% of Filipinos are rice-eaters. What started out as a food stall selling well-loved popular Filipino dishes like Beef Pares, Adobo, Caldereta, Pinoy Teriyaki and all-day breakfast favourites like Tapsilog, Tocilog, Longsilog and Liemposilog, evolved quickly and the simple food cart, grew into a food kiosk and eventually into dine in branches.
