Astig ang ATV sa Mt. Mayon!

    One of the reasons that tourists go to Mt. Mayon in droves is the ATV Adventure.   This activity allows tourists to go to the foot of Mt.  Mayon and see the beauty of this great lady up close by means of an all-terrain vehicle.  Up there, visitors can also enjoy the view of the city of Legaspi.  They can also savor the scent of the clean mountain air and get lots and lots of photographs amid the verdant background.  ATV stands for all-terrain vehicle.  This transportation is especially built to enable riders to get past all kinds of terrain, may it be rough, rocky, watery, sandy, muddy, hilly, etc.  It is basically automatic, but it also has gears (I wouldn't know when to use them, if you ask me.) 

  Before I started my three-hour drive to the foot of Mt. Mayon, I had a quick dry-run just to test if the machine was working well.  Also I made sure that  I was wearing all the necessary gears to keep me safe and unharmed throughout the entire adventure like helmet, etc.   The ATV basically works like a big and heavy scooter, but it has an accelerator which you can use to speed up and to slow down (aside from the brakes) I was asked to sign a waiver before starting the adventure so that the company will not be liable for anything that will happen to me during the ride.  
   I heard from our guide that one guest fell from a cliff straight to a watery area because she panicked.  It was not a machine problem but it was a human error.  But had she only followed the guide's lead she would not suffer any major wounds and internal injuries which amounted to almost P200,000.  The ATV adventure company shouldered most of the expenses out of humanitarian reasons.  This, despite the waiver she signed so it's quite admirable that the company extended such a gesture.

   The ATV Adventure to Mt. Mayon has different prices, depending on the size of the ATV, as well as the distance or the trail you want to take.  The shorter the trail and the smaller the vehicle, it will be cheaper and more affordable.  However, I would recommend you take the trail that will take you at the foot of Mt. Mayon to get value for your money and see Mt.  Mayon up close.  After all, Mt. Mayon is the major attraction of the province of Albay. Why go to Legaspi if you will not be able to see Mt. Mayon up close, right?   The shortest ride which is only about 30 minutes will not be enough to enjoy the rural scenery, occasional carabao, flying birds, tall trees, rocky river and etc.  If you really want to maximize your adventure, you have to go to the foot of Mt. Mayon.  
     Prices for the ATV Adventure range from 599 to 3,000.  Once you are able to hurdle all the difficulties going up to Mt. Mayon, you'll feel really "oragon."   This is the favorite expression of the people of Bicolandia.  This roughly means "do or die"

Filipino Tourist Targeted in New York

          Hate crimes in New York specifically directed towards Asians have become rampant in the past few years. We have heard of random attacks towards Asians inside the subway, in the streets of New York happen in the past two years or so.  Will we ever see the end of it?  What triggers these hate towards Asians?   Last Saturday, the Philippine Consulate General in New York issued an advisory.  Apparently, one Filipino tourist from Cebu was the latest victim of an assault stemming from hatred towards Asians.  This attack happened near the Philippine Center in Manhattan last Wednesday. rappler.com           The consulate posted in its Facebook page that the 18-year old victim who is from Cebu, suffered facial injuries because he was beaten up.  Authorities still can not confirm whether the attack was a random act of violence or an anti-Asian hate crime.         Records have shown that it was the 41st incident that involved a Filipino who was either a victim of a hate crime or an act

Circle of Fun is the Latest attraction in Quezon City Memorial Circle

I was in Quezon Memorial Circle this afternoon and I chanced upon this mini amusement center currently being constructed inside the big Quezon City landmark.  This new attraction at the QCMC showcases thrilling rides like the Wild Wind.  This is actually like the Space Shuttle of Enchanted Kingdom in Santa Rosa, Laguna.  It is a modified form of the traditional roller-coaster.  There are also rides for the little ones like the usual water bump cars.  And the horror rides which I will dare not ride because I do not have the kind of heart that can withstand intense fear.   While I laud the Quezon City government for this endeavor of providing a small amusement park for the residents of Quezon City so that they do not have to go all the way to Star City or Enchanted Kingdom to be able to experience the different rides, I can't help but feel dismayed over the changes in the scenery inside the memorial.  I frequented the place way, way back when I lived near UP Campus to en
