Boy Kanin Celebrates 6 Successful Years in the Food Industry

Image
Was it only yesterday when I joined the opening of a new branch in Laguna?  Yes, time flies, especially for Boy Kanin , the pioneering Filipino fast food in the country.  Filipino in a sense that the concept came from the ubiquitous "carenderia," that provides affordable, homemade, but delicious food.  Yes, who can't relate to Boy Kanin's menu?  Every Juan certainly can.  Boy Kanin is far from the fancy western fastfood or glamorous restaurant, but Boy Kanin is everybody's cup of tea.  And why not?  The menu is one that we all grew up with and it continuously improves because of the talented and very hands-on CEO .             One of the favorite ones and certainly mine, is this Boy Kanin sisig, a native Kapampangan dish that is made from pig's face and chicken liver, seasoned with kalamansi (Philippine lemon) onions and chili peppers.  To make it more special, you can break an egg before mixing...

Wanted: Perfect Eyebrows

Image
I used to be one of the throngs of women who would painstakingly spend hours just to achieve well-defined brows.   The effort that goes into creating perfect brows is such that when we finally have done them perfectly, we feel very proud.  And we become prouder even if our friends compliment us about it.  A pair of great eyebrows, alluring lips,  pinkish cheeks, subtly-shaded eyes, make a good made up face and who doesn't want it?  After four scores and more, my struggle with creating the perfect eyebrows whenever I apply make up is now a thing of the past because after my microshading and strokes under the cosmetic tattoo specialist of The Brow Studio , I could wake up looking like Julia Barretto and when I look into the mirror, I feel 5 years younger.    Like you, I am curious as to what this technology is:  How is it done and is it painful?  Well, microblading is just one of the many forms of semi-permanent tattoo.  I...

Experience Cuba at the Havana Club

Image
From the spacious parking area of the Villar Sipag Commercial Center, a sign that says Havana Club shines brilliantly and attractively,  as if calling people to enter its premises -- which I gladly did.   From outside, the Latin vibe is very apparent, especially from the design and concept of the edifice and the wide windows which open to an airy lounge where guests can dine and watch the performances on the mini-stage.   .        The Honorable Senator Cynthia Villar who owns the place and the over-all president of the Villar Sipag Foundation, said that Havana Club became her project because she acquired so many paintings from her trip to Cuba, so much so that she needed a location to display them, thus Havana Club was born.  When you step into the hallway going to the main entrance, paintings that reflect Cuban art and culture are already displayed.   Attentive staff in Cuban-inspired attire greet and welcome g...

Boy Kanin five-year Anniversary Deals and Goodies

Boy Kanin is Ronda Pilipinas's Benefactor As part of its outreach and community service activities, Boy Kanin will sponsor the annual road cycling competition participated by professional cyclists Ronda Pilipinas.  It is usually held in the first quarter of the year in the country; and being that Mr. Callao himself is a sportsman and a cycling enthusiast, he pledged that this year's champion is going to be recipient of a  Boy Kanin franchise.  Isn't that grand?   Last February 15, 2018, the contract of the sponsorship for such event was sealed between Mr. Callao and the representative of LBC Sports Development, Ms. Bernadette Guerrero.  The contract signing was held at the Boy Kanin Cabuyao Branch owned by Mr. and Mrs. Ariel Batas.

Pioneering "Lutuing Bahay" Food Chain Celebrates 5th Year Anniversary

Image
Who would have thought that our homegrown fare found commonly in turo-turos or in carinderia  will be glamorized and packaged attractively and sold in affordable rates in the fast-growing food chain, 'Boy Kanin?'      Five years ago, Mr. Ronald Callao, President and CEO of MB Flavored Rice Corporation, conceptualized the creation of Boy Kanin when he noticed that most food chains sell Chinese-influenced food.   He thought of using the ubiquitous rice in his menu because 99% of Filipinos are rice-eaters.   What started out as a food stall selling  well-loved popular Filipino dishes like Beef Pares, Adobo, Caldereta, Pinoy Teriyaki and all-day breakfast favourites like Tapsilog, Tocilog, Longsilog and Liemposilog, evolved quickly and the simple food cart, grew into a food kiosk and eventually into dine in branches.   Boy kanin is no longer just about budget meals in a box, because the  choices have also widened....
