The Flavors of Los Banos: Herb Republic

If you are fond or a lover of organic food, the kind that screams of chemical-free goodness and gourmet cooking, then you should definitely drive to Los Banos, Laguna and try the meals and preparations that only Herb Republic can create.  Herb Republic is located conveniently at Lopez Avenue, the road that will take you at the doorstep of UP Los Banos.  I can guarantee that every centavo you will be paying for the meal is well-spent.  You will enjoy their food, just like I did.  


One of the best-seller is their very own Herb Republic Sandwich.  What I like about it is the soft bread that they use.  It probably was the softest sandwich bread I have ever had the pleasure to eat.  It is packed and complete with the greens and meat that you are looking for in a sandwich.  It is a good starter if you ask me. While you are still debating which to order.   The price is not really that average if you ask me but if you consider the goodness of the food, what the heck, indulge and think of the price later.


It has enough space to hold a small gathering for a dinner or a lunch date.  The serving staff are just so kind and willing to interact with the guests.  The plus factor so far is that waiting time is short.  That's the good thing with having a manageable menu.   We just love the almost basic style of cooking. 



They also have some deserts although the selection (as of now) is still a few, but they are not the usual deserts so try to enjoy them as well just like we did.




Something worth noting too is their selection of drinks.  Herb Republic has an exhaustive list of 
coolers and other refreshments that sound so tempting you would love to try them all. One of the favorites is the Mint Watermelon Cooler. 


Herb Republic's must-try creation is the rosemary roasted chicken which you can order in different servings.  You can try the others too if you think rosemary is very mild.  For me, it was by far the best rosemary chicken I have tried.

Filipino Tourist Targeted in New York

          Hate crimes in New York specifically directed towards Asians have become rampant in the past few years. We have heard of random attacks towards Asians inside the subway, in the streets of New York happen in the past two years or so.  Will we ever see the end of it?  What triggers these hate towards Asians?   Last Saturday, the Philippine Consulate General in New York issued an advisory.  Apparently, one Filipino tourist from Cebu was the latest victim of an assault stemming from hatred towards Asians.  This attack happened near the Philippine Center in Manhattan last Wednesday. rappler.com           The consulate posted in its Facebook page that the 18-year old victim who is from Cebu, suffered facial injuries because he was beaten up.  Authorities still can not confirm whether the attack was a random act of violence or an anti-Asian hate crime.         Records have shown that it was the 41st incident that involved a Filipino who was either a victim of a hate crime or an act

Circle of Fun is the Latest attraction in Quezon City Memorial Circle

I was in Quezon Memorial Circle this afternoon and I chanced upon this mini amusement center currently being constructed inside the big Quezon City landmark.  This new attraction at the QCMC showcases thrilling rides like the Wild Wind.  This is actually like the Space Shuttle of Enchanted Kingdom in Santa Rosa, Laguna.  It is a modified form of the traditional roller-coaster.  There are also rides for the little ones like the usual water bump cars.  And the horror rides which I will dare not ride because I do not have the kind of heart that can withstand intense fear.   While I laud the Quezon City government for this endeavor of providing a small amusement park for the residents of Quezon City so that they do not have to go all the way to Star City or Enchanted Kingdom to be able to experience the different rides, I can't help but feel dismayed over the changes in the scenery inside the memorial.  I frequented the place way, way back when I lived near UP Campus to en
