5 Things to do in General Trias City

In case you are wondering where General Trias City is found, it is located in Cavite, and is one of the progressive towns in the province.  It is but a stone's throw away from the CEPZA (Cavite Export Processing Zone) In fact, due to many constructions and developments around the area, traffic has become horrendous.  What used to be a sluggish town has become a bustling area.  The influx of businesses catering to Korean tourists also contributed to the sudden economic surge in the area.


In case you will find yourself in the area, here are 5 things you can do:

1.  Visit and Pray at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Church: There are many St. Francis of Assisi Parish Churches in the Philippines.  I can name at least 3.  But this is a historical church and is one of the oldest churches in the province of Cavite.  This church is admired for its attractive architecture and religious significance. If you're interested in local history and culture, this is worth visiting.  The place exudes serenity and history.

2.  Explore the Orchard Golf and Country Club.  For golf enthusiasts who want some challenge, the Orchard Golf and Country Club in General Trias offers a course that is for senior golfers amidst a well-manicured, thick greenery.  However, if you're not a golfer, the surroundings around the club provides peace and quite for relaxation. .

3.  Dine at established local restaurants as well as newly-opened dining places. The restaurant industry in General Trias is one of the fastest growing in the said field.  As a visitor you must try local dishes served from various restaurants, eateries, and food stalls in the area.  Savor Filipino specialties such as lechon, adobo, and sinigang. lechon.  Of course there are other restaurants that offer authentic foreign dishes as well.  Many Korean restaurants also have opened to serve local and Korean tourists too.  

4.  Do physical activity General Trias Sports Park.   If you're the sport buff or the type who enjoys outdoor activities with great companions,  you and your company must see the General Trias Sports Park.  It is a great place for sports lovers or people who enjoy physical activity. The park features various sports facilities such as basketball courts.  If you just want to jog, head to the  jogging path, and you can even picnic in open spaces and do just leisurely walks.


5.  Go Shopping at Commercial Centers.  Many shopping malls and commercial centers have established branches at General Trias where you can go shopping for locally made products, daily necessities and more.  Places like Robinsons Place General Trias or General Trias Town Center are now open for your shopping and dining experience.

General Trias is located close to popular tourist destinations in Cavite and the Calabarzon area, so it is easy for you include other nearby attractions too.

General Trias is named after one of the local heroes, Mariano Trias, who joined the revolutionary group KKK in fighting against the colonizers namely the Spaniards.

Filipino Tourist Targeted in New York

          Hate crimes in New York specifically directed towards Asians have become rampant in the past few years. We have heard of random attacks towards Asians inside the subway, in the streets of New York happen in the past two years or so.  Will we ever see the end of it?  What triggers these hate towards Asians?   Last Saturday, the Philippine Consulate General in New York issued an advisory.  Apparently, one Filipino tourist from Cebu was the latest victim of an assault stemming from hatred towards Asians.  This attack happened near the Philippine Center in Manhattan last Wednesday. rappler.com           The consulate posted in its Facebook page that the 18-year old victim who is from Cebu, suffered facial injuries because he was beaten up.  Authorities still can not confirm whether the attack was a random act of violence or an anti-Asian hate crime.         Records have shown that it was the 41st incident that involved a Filipino who was either a victim of a hate crime or an act

A Day in the Rising Food Mecca of Bulacan: San Miguel De Mayumo (Part 1)

To call San Miguel de Mayumo the "Rising Food Mecca of Bulacan " would be a misnomer because San Miguel has been home to many food manufacturers, restaurants and local fastfoods for many, many years contrary to what I had thought about San Miguel before.  Upon seeing for myself the vast talent and  resources this seemingly quite little town has, my opinion changed to a 360-degrees.   San Miguel should be recognized for its culinary background and heritage.                     I learned that if you don't watch what you will eat here, especially the chicharon from Goyena's, you're going to be happily eating your last meal, just kidding!  But that putok-batok-can't-put-it-down goodness and crunchy-till-the-last bite has become a must-buy "pasalubong" from the Bulacan province.  Who can resist this crunchy delicacy that has been featured in a number of travel shows in the country?
