Alfred Vargas Launched PWD ...PWeDe...

Drawing inspiration from his grandmother who died of bone cancer, the very same illness that kept her wheelchair-bound, Councilor Alfred Vargas, the hardworking councilor of Quezon City, launched PWD (Persons with Disabilities)...PWeDe which aims to increase people's awareness of the plight of the PWDs not only in Quezon City, but for the entire Metro Manila as well.    His advocacy started with merely giving a wheelchair to some of his constituents but after seeing that the PWDs needed an additional voice to encourage others to support the PWDs,  Councilor Vargas made it his mission to bring the cause of the PWDs to people who would be able to give assistance to the PWDs and that means, me and you and the entire country. 

To everyone, Councilor Vargas is appealing for help in his personal advocacy in uplifting the quality of life among Persons With Disabilities and help them help themselves.

  To raise funds for a massive nationwide nutrition program for children, a charity dinner concert will be staged at The Manila Hotel on November 26, 2022 at 6:00pm. This was announced by Joey Lina  last October 6, 2022 also at The Manila Hotel.    The Manila Hotel President and Former Senator after the formation of an alliance of non-governmental organizations called “Alliance for a Healthy Philippines” (AHP) The alliance aims to increase awareness on the serious children malnutrition problem in the country and to implement barangay-based nutrition intervention program especially during the child’s first 1,000 days. Filipino Tourist Targeted in New York

          Hate crimes in New York specifically directed towards Asians have become rampant in the past few years. We have heard of random attacks towards Asians inside the subway, in the streets of New York happen in the past two years or so.  Will we ever see the end of it?  What triggers these hate towards Asians?   Last Saturday, the Philippine Consulate General in New York issued an advisory.  Apparently, one Filipino tourist from Cebu was the latest victim of an assault stemming from hatred towards Asians.  This attack happened near the Philippine Center in Manhattan last Wednesday. rappler.com           The consulate posted in its Facebook page that the 18-year old victim who is from Cebu, suffered facial injuries because he was beaten up.  Authorities still can not confirm whether the attack was a random act of violence or an anti-Asian hate crime.         Records have shown that it was the 41st incident that involved a Filipino who was either a victim of a hate crime or an act

Circle of Fun is the Latest attraction in Quezon City Memorial Circle

I was in Quezon Memorial Circle this afternoon and I chanced upon this mini amusement center currently being constructed inside the big Quezon City landmark.  This new attraction at the QCMC showcases thrilling rides like the Wild Wind.  This is actually like the Space Shuttle of Enchanted Kingdom in Santa Rosa, Laguna.  It is a modified form of the traditional roller-coaster.  There are also rides for the little ones like the usual water bump cars.  And the horror rides which I will dare not ride because I do not have the kind of heart that can withstand intense fear.   While I laud the Quezon City government for this endeavor of providing a small amusement park for the residents of Quezon City so that they do not have to go all the way to Star City or Enchanted Kingdom to be able to experience the different rides, I can't help but feel dismayed over the changes in the scenery inside the memorial.  I frequented the place way, way back when I lived near UP Campus to en
