My Puerto Prinsesa City Tour: Baker's Hill

Baker's Hill is a travel destination in Puerto Prinsesa because it is a business establishment with a unique format.  It is a combination of a refreshment parlor and theme park, and unlike some theme parks privately run, there is no entrance fee at Baker's Hill.  So coming here is not only refreshing and delightful it is also easy on the pocket.  This attractive lifesize statue of a baker, welcomes everyone warmly.  With this kind of reception, who would not come in and savor the delicious goodies that this one-of-a-kind bakeshop makes?

Our friends from Disneyland also graced Baker's Hill theme park.  Donald Duck and Bugs Bunny are just among them and seeing lifesizes of these characters amaze the kids and other adults who grew up watching these characters on TVs or movies.

The management not only wants to keep the mini-theme park entertaining, they also want to make it educational.  If children want to see some Jurassic era animals,  they can come and try identifying the species of dinos here.

Baker's Hill Goodies

I did not forget to bring this ultra special hopia ube for "pasalubong" to folks back home.  I have tried other hopia ube  at other bakeshops but this one stands out for me because it is not too moist and just the right amount of sweetness to make it a partner to my black coffee. Of course, the mongo hopia is also a best-seller here.

Piyaya with a twist

Now, why is this for me, piyaya with a twist?  It is not as thin as the piyaya of Bacolod so it is perfect also for coffee because it does not dissolve in coffee when dipped in it.  It also a little bit oily with sesame seeds to give it more character.  This is a must-try or must-buy as pasalubong item.

One of the Pizza they Serve

When we got there,  we had planned only on buying some pasalubong goodies but when we smelled the aroma of pizza cooking from the transparent pizza kitchen of Baker's Hill, our noses made a beeline for it and wasn't able to help ourselves from ordering a marguerita.  I can still taste the pizza sauce and melting cheese that blended well with the herbs and tomatoes.  The dough also has the right thickness to keep us full enough to finish our city tour.
