Let Susuru Take you to the Land of the Rising Sun
After a few bites from the hot but juicy fresh-from-the-pan gyoza and authentic unagi maki at this new Japanese restaurant, against a backdrop of Japanese images and Japanese art, I already felt I was in the land of the rising sun. Susuru is the newly opened quaint Japanese restaurant at the Pop Up Katipunan. Susuru stands for 'to slurp,' a gesture when eating noodles which in turn creates a sound because someone is eating with gusto and excitement. Of course, this is to the delight of the chef, as this shows how the eater appreciates the meal. To some cultures, this manner of eating is rude, however, when eating noodles in Japan, slurping is acceptable.
